West Thirty Six is by far one of the most exciting locations to find yourself in this year. Opening its doors less that 12 months ago, it has already established it self as one of the most popular West London hang outs.
Located just off Portobello Road, this four story town house could be easily overlooked from the outside, especially in the shadow of the Trellik Tower that looms across the road. However once you step inside, if you’re not hooked by the smell of the amazing food; you definitely will be pulled in by the maze of exquisite retro style rooms that leave you feeling more at home than on a shoot location. Through four floors of ornately decorated rooms, WTS possesses a homely feel that would remind you of sitting by an open fire on a winter evening. Each room, decked with red velvet sofas and bookshelves in an array of rich, dark colours made this a perfect spot for a photoshoot. And I would say, the grungy vibe that you sense from the dark coloured decor makes it all the more appealing.
Aside from the exciting ambience of dark grey walls that hint at it being more like cool stately home than a bar & grill, it would be safe to say that the food is also worth a mention. We have Chef John Pollard (formerly of Soho House-Caprice Holdings) to thank for an amazing menu that has more than its offering for its target market. West Thirty Six takes classic items from a grill house menu and adds it’s very own spin, cooking with natural fuels and charcoal. Both the chefs and the staff at WTS also made the Carbon Copy team feel like we were at home. Arriving on a cold morning for our shoot, we were showered with probably the best bacon butties we have ever tasted – with their own special WTS twist of course.
Boasting spectacular rooms and terraces, complete with lounge areas and outdoor spaces, you can surely see the appeal of this diverse London location. Catching an array of creative folk using the space to drink, shoot, and even read some of their book collection it is safe to say that CLIENT & Carbon Copy are definitely adding West Thirty Six to its list of favourite London hang outs.
