This season, Swedish youth fashion brand Weekday dropped a new 22-piece collection in collaboration with legendary American denim brand Lee. Inspired by mid-90s youth culture, the collection is a workwear staple with a contemporary style.
Lee was founded 130 years ago and Weekday dipped into its archive to help create iconic denim pieces that are relevant today. Key pieces include cotton carpenter trousers, wide jeans, overalls, coveralls, service jackets and coats with a colour palette consisting of light concrete beige, indigo, and washed-out red/pink.
“Collaborating on this collection has been a very positive experience for us. The best ideas are created where there is the freedom to have an open exchange. From the initial idea and making the selection of the iconic Lee garments to the fabrics, fittings and branding, everything has been ‘Made in Unity’.” – Peter Kats, Vice-President Brand EMEA at Lee.
Weekday has created three variants with the Lee Service Coat – the true coat as well as a split which forms a Service Jacket and a Service Skirt. A hip Overall Dress was created by opening up the original overall and creating a fresh closure.
“For us, this collaboration is about our shared passion for denim. Lee jeans are very distinct and have a look that is different from other denim brands, they have beautiful details while still being playful and for us, that is very inspiring.” – Per Axen, Men’s Denim Designer at Weekday.
