While we might just be getting into the swing of winter dressing, September-October is all about Spring/Summer fashion. Kicking off in New York on 5th September Fashion takes the global stage with the four big shows taking over the fashion capitals of the world. With a whistle stop stay in London from 13th September before crossing the pond to Milan on 18th September we finally head to the motherland of all things fashion for the finale in Paris!
Paris Fashion week will be held this year on 24th September – 2nd October.
For a full list of shows and events, check out the Mode à Paris website to keep up to date with the jam packed schedule.
Highlights
The big hitters will be out in force this year with all eyes on the favourite French houses of Carven, Dior, Balmain, Chloé, Givenchy, Lanvin and of course Saint Laurent to name but a few. There’s also the big names doing their bit to improve the image of Brits abroad with the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney all showcasing their new season collections.
For fashion fans this is the perfect excuse to visit the city of light (not that you really need one!). There’s a range of different options for travel but the easiest and quickest way is to fly. It can also be the cheapest way to travel to Paris if you book early enough with one of the low cost airlines like Jet2.com.
While, as to be expected, the shows are pretty exclusive, invite only affairs, in the past once the celebs and industry experts have all taken their seats, some seriously dedicated fashion students have been known to wangle their way in to the smaller shows to watch from the back.
If you don’t fancy your chances with your blagging skills though fear not, many fashion houses these days are keeping up with technology and offering live streams of their shows online as they happen.
With picture sharing taking over the social networking world, forget about the price tags, it’s the hash tag you want to take note of. Instagram is sure to be flooded with images from those fortunate enough to make it to the front row so make the most of it and don’t miss a single sashay.
