The Maine Mayfair opened on Hanover Square, London in November 2021, featuring a New England-inspired brasserie inside a stunning 18th-century Georgian townhouse. The brainchild of Canadian restauranteur Joey Ghazal, the impressive building houses five rooms over three floors, hosting 350 covers plus a newly opened hidden terrace in the former stables of the townhouse, named the Medici Courtyard.
Designed in collaboration with BradyWilliams, the aesthetic embodies ‘old-world British Elegance, New England extravagance and a touch of subterranean decadence.’ Neighbours include Vogue House, Unit Gallery, Mandarin Oriental Residences as well as the newly opened Hanover Square Park and Pace Gallery, bonding to create a new cultural destination for Central London. This is all made more accessible via the new Bond Street Crossrail station.
Joey Ghazal’s story is a very uplifting one – his career started in the early 2000s, waiting tables at Soho House on Greek Street, London. Now, some 20 years later, Ghazal has developed dozens of successful restaurant and bar concepts in Montreal, Beirut and Dubai.
The menus at The Maine were inspired by Joey’s childhood summers spent in Maine and Vermont, offering a relaxed take on crowd-pleasing brasserie fare from raw bar to market salads to grilled fish and steak cuts, all responsibly sourced. The spaces include The Drawing Room, The Terrace, The Brasserie and The Tavern, just the spot for fine dining, imaginative drinks, great conversation and some rather special entertainment.
