Australian heritage brand R.M.Williams unveiled a new store in London on Monday 19 February 2018. In a 60 square metre store based in the capital’s infamous Soho, both men’s and women’s boots are stocked as well as accessories and a curated selection of ready to wear menswear. The Soho London store is R.M.Williams’ third store in the United Kingdom following the New Bond Street Flagship, and Westfield London locations and the fourth in a series of international openings for R.M.Williams following recent launches in New York, Los Angeles and Texas.
“We are proud of our unique craftsmanship and Australian heritage, making our move into the creative hub of London a natural fit. R.M.Williams purpose-built product is perfect for the Northern Hemisphere in both style and function, and we are confident that Soho residents will resonate with our dedication to quality and comfort.”
– R.M.Williams CEO, Raju Vuppalapati
Founded back in 1932 in the outback of Australia, R.M.Williams has developed a world-renowned reputation for its high-quality handcrafted footwear and apparel. An icon in Australia, the brand has a growing international following and is sold in over 15 countries around the world.
The natural charm of an Australian stockman’s workshop is the inspiration for the store with bespoke fixtures and fittings paying homage to R.M.Williams and also the Soho community’s joint craftsmanship heritage. With recycled wood grain materials and a neutral palette of grey, taupe and aged green accents used, the original shop front door and windows remain, verifying R.M.Williams relationship with its new Soho location. The R.M.Williams history is shared via a series of fantastic classic Australian portraits on the wall, displaying how the brand has evolved since conception to the contemporary brand it is today.
The iconic hand-made boots are proudly displayed with a collection of signature styles including the urban Gardner and Classic Turnout styles, alongside the renowned men’s Craftsman and women’s Adelaide boots. A selection of R.M.Williams boots sold in the Soho store have been purposely built for the Northern Hemisphere climate, allowing customers to enjoy their boots all-year round. You will also find a collection of men’s hand-plaited belts, leather accessories and apparel.
At the launch, the store showcased R.M.Williams’ noted collaboration with Paris-based custom garage Blitz Motorcycles (which we featured on CLIENT last October HERE). The partnership involved handcrafted Scrambler boots and a striking collaboration bike. Originally Inspired by drovers who used motorcycles to herd cattle over the immense and perilous terrain of the Australian Outback. The Scrambler is a recreation of the original Motorcycle Boot first introduced to the R.M.Williams range back in 1993. The Scrambler is available in two leather options; Brown Crocodile, an exotic leather available through their unique Made-to-Order service, and Black New Zealand cowhide, a leather exclusive to the collaboration. The highly regarded R.M.Williams Bespoke service is available in the new Soho store, offering customers various customisation options including size and fit, leather and skin, elastic, thread, soles and a personalised message, perfect for a gift or to stamp your own identity on.
