Back in May, PK’s List launched their new hotel app, founded by travel expert Philippe Kjellgren (PK as he is known) who is offering what he describes as Subjective Travel Intelligence™.
Members of the App will benefit from one of the most comprehensive collections of vetted hotels with added perks upon check-in and the ability to communicate directly with the hotel, by the click of a button (the only app currently offering this service).
PK is the author of seven travel books and founder of the Kiwi Collection and he started a comprehensive 800-day trip around the world in order to make this app the finest it could be. He wanted to personally vet and populate the app with only the very best hotel recommendations. PK’s list was started some years ago, whose ‘Elite Membership’ includes royal families, dignitaries, HNWI, VIP’s and celebrities.
The new smartphone app offers members exclusive insights into the world’s best hotels, a ‘quick book’ option and benefits include upgrades, spa credits, gift vouchers and late check out at select hotels. To appease all tastes, Philippe has included independent boutique hotels to grand dame hotels, and the app offer’s his individual insight, seen as he has personally visited ALL hotels and resorts included.
For people whose time is already demanding, practical lists have been compiled on the app to help make booking the perfect holiday an easy and enjoyable task, from hotels with the largest bedrooms to the most stunning infinity pools, child-friendly or maybe quintessentially British, the app details all the key factors you need to know prior to booking. In 2007, Forbes magazine hailed Philippe’s books and hotel knowledge as ‘to luxury hotels, what the Michelin Guide is to restaurants’.
Philippe describes his app as a ‘money can’t buy’ service, one that simply isn’t out on the market already, to this extent. His is also populating the app as he travels, only listing the very best hotels and documenting his trip on his Instagram feed (@pkslist) so that members can track his travels and build their own bespoke trips based on inspiration.
PK’s List has are three tiers of membership – the Elite Membership (by invitation only), the Travel Club and the new App. Their team of expertly appointed travel advisors are located in several major cities around the world and members who are part of the travel club are assigned their own dedicated advisor, in their time zone. Who, with Philippe’s guidance, will organise “all facets of trip planning, whether it’s a business trip to Hong Kong, a marriage proposal on the South African plains, or to eat the finest steak in Argentina.”
PKs List – Subjective Travel Intelligence™, is affiliated with SmartFlyer, is a member of Dorchester Collection ‘Diamond Club’, the Belmond ‘Bellini Club’, the Mandarin Oriental ‘Fan Club’, the Four Seasons ‘Preferred Partner’, Jumeirah ‘Passport to Luxury’, Rosewood ‘Elite’ and many more.
Philippe says “Being fortunate enough to call this my job and having visited 139 countries and most of the world’s most stunning hotels has allowed me to really hone in on what makes a truly exceptional hotel. Sometimes it can be the heritage and architecture of a hotel, other times the service and experiences they offer, whilst another’s could simply be the barefoot luxury elements. As a result of my travels, I would say that the following hotels are some of my personal favourites:
Upper House, Hong Kong – for the ultimate service experience
NIHI Sumba, Bali – visit here to learn to surf at one of the best barefoot luxury resorts in the world
Miavana, Madagascar – the new frontier of luxury in Madagascar
Ett Hem, Stockholm – one of the world’s most spectacular boutique hotels
Greenwich Hotel in Tribeca, New York – a discrete elegant address in New York
Post Ranch Inn, Big Sur, California – views don’t get more dramatic
Esencia, Mexico – a stylish retreat close enough to the fun in Tulum, yet far enough away to relax and unwind
Uxua, Brazil – the ultimate beach paradise found
