Deborah Henning presents her ‘Love Letter to London’ FW19 Collection, a personal victory after a series of life-changing circumstances. Henning, who developed her creative and practical skills at Alexander McQueen and Sass & Bide has a very honest approach to her workflow. With a hectic lifestyle, developing the new collection went through a series of stages.
“During this whole time, this collection was being subconsciously developed, and when pen came to paper it just flowed out. I had to travel, be in 10 places at once, I needed things for day to night without the option to change; and so this collection was born” – Deborah Henning
Described as the ‘ultimate kit for the modern lifestyle, items that stay with you, through any weather on any continent – layer up or down and style it as you please.’ With travellers in mind and those with a busy lifestyle, pieces feature anti-crease materials, utility pockets and jackets that can adjust their look depending on the circumstances. Mixing hand-selected (and sometimes unexpected) fabrics, a minimalistic palette and careful attention to detailing, produces a robust and flexible capsule collection that you can integrate with other pieces from your wardrobe and into your lifestyle. At times utilitarian, at times chic and sometimes even sassy. It’s also clear that Henning likes to toy with both masculine and feminine silhouettes, and is not afraid to experiment.
Being motivated by her own life changes and the experiences of others, Henning had creatives, artists, travellers and unique and inspirational people in her thoughts. ‘I want to explore people’s stories and lives and create collections for a purpose’. To coincide with the launch of the debut capsule menswear collection, Henning selected a unique individual to tell his story…
‘Actor and Songwriter Toby Sebastian of Game of Thrones and recently Trading Paint with John Travolta features in our first fashion film – we’re following him on his international travel journey, getting a sneak peek of his lifestyle and passions and how he’s got to where he is today. His style and aesthetic and story have inspired our very first menswear capsule. The short fashion film will launch mid-year just before the drop of the line in stores’ – Deborah Henning, Creative Director
