Located between the districts of Soho and Hudson, Hotel Hugo has become a much-loved addition to stylish design hotels in Lower Manhattan. The hotel was designed by renowned architect Marcello Pozzi, who took inspiration from the local industrial landscape and fused that with the organic art culture that thrives in the area.
This has of course drawn in local creatives, not just for the accommodation but also the cool duplex rooftop bar, which overlooks the iconic Hudson River, Freedom Tower and Statue of Liberty, for starters. Placing itself on top of the 20-story building, the design encompasses floor to ceiling windows where luxurious leather and chrome are contrasted with brutal concrete. Your first impression will be an appreciation of the design but once you are sitting comfortably and the handcrafted cocktails are flowing, you will develop a whole new appreciation. We assure you.
The accommodation offers four room types – Deluxe King, Double Double, Superior King and Loft Suites, depending on your budget and needs. There are 35 Deluxe King’s, which feature king beds and custom wood furnishings, plus standard 32″ flat screen TV and work desk. Double Double rooms take up 18 rooms at the hotel, and feature two double beds as standard, ideal for business travellers who want that extra comfort. The 64 Superior Kings take things up a notch, with added space and extras, but if you’re looking for more space and an authentic loft typical of Hudson Square, then go for a Loft Suite. You will find a generous living area, with plenty of space to work and enjoy the views of New York.
Food at Hotel Hugo is also well tailored. Cafe Hugo promotes a simple ‘farm to table’ menu, with a focus on American fare. The cafe caters for breakfast, lunch and informal dinners, including a seasonal patio for the Summer months as well as a private dining room, which features a living garden wall and skylight. Cafe Hugo features beautifully rich polished wood with marine influences in a very relaxed atmosphere.
The hotel also offers small meeting spaces, ideal for the locale and creative agencies, with full catering available. Hotel Hugo features in the upcoming Client Travel Directory – visit their website for more.
