Shoreditch in London’s iconic East End is home to a new residential development whose focus is on the perseveration and innovation of design excellence. The Long & Waterson Development features a collection of 119 individually designed lofts, apartments and penthouses, with an emphasis on ‘home’ and ‘community’.
Under the creative direction of Pavel Klimczak, founder of Monologue London and in collaboration with Alexandra Steed Urban, residents will enjoy a social hub of courtyards and sun walkways where the space fuses contemporary architecture with an organic design. The unique ‘Green Wall’ upon entering the development and the communal ‘Sunken Gardens’ bring these ideas to life.
Eran Chen – Founder and Executive Director of Architectural Firm ODA says “I think we’ve kept the scheme very organic, with curves, white surfaces, and a richly landscaped inner garden. We also worked hard to ensure that we stayed grounded within the neighbourhood and encouraged congregation, interaction with nature and a sense of community – none of which you necessarily get in a modern tower block.”
The development features an extensive list of facilities including a 24-hour Concierge, residents’ library & lounge area, gym with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the communal spaces, wet & dry sauna and a residents’ Cinema.
Alexandra Steed – Owner and founder of Alexandra Steed URBAN says, “It is completely urban, yet due to the network of routes surrounding it, the location is surprisingly calm and quiet, providing a place of tranquillity in this inner-city location.
Shoreditch has a high concentration of quality restaurants and bars within walking distance, as well as a selection of art spaces and venues for residents to enjoy without having to jump a cab or hop on the tube. In which case, Old Street Underground is a mere 7-minute walk from the development and Liverpool Street Station just 15 minutes on foot, connecting you to the far greater transport network.
We will leave the final word to Pavel Klimczak, “It was about creating a believable space for people that we knew would respond to the area and everything it has to offer.”
