I’ve always been a fan of designer Julian Zigerli, who launched his label back in 2010 around the same time i founded CLIENT Magazine. From his often sexually charged aesthetic to his use of performance art, if there is one thing that Julian is not short of, it is creativity. For his AW/16 Collection, titled ‘Larger Than Life’, he draws inspiration directly from his childhood, and imprints it on his campaign using family photo’s from the late 80’s and early 90’s.
During that time, the Swiss designer had many fun experiences, which are shared through mixed media collage, in a truly beautiful lo-fi presentation from super-talented photographer & artist Yves Suter. Themes include days out at the beach, pieces of old clothing, cartoons, painting and of course the odd donkey.
The collection features “vibrantly rich wools in primary colours and deconstructed digital prints originating from vintage garments – all offering a direct window into the past with a modern twist.”
Despite the momentum of nostalgia running throughout this campaign and collection, it still manages to feel distinctly young and refreshing, in every way.
