Since his appointment to Creative Director in 2015, Alessandro Michele has provoked lots of attention and opinion. Whilst opinions fade, his Gucci pre-fall 2017 collection will not be so dismissive. Whilst retaining the oh so classic Gucci motifs and colour palette, the ornate opulence nested in this collection is indisputable.
The extensive collection contributes everything from daywear to nightwear, including special event attire to more urban pieces – a clear sign of the brands continued evolution under Michele. You won’t find lions and tigers and bears, but close – dragons, tigers and snakes. With extravagant embroidery, intricate floral patterns and prints, and unmissable silhouettes, the pre-fall collection is many things – loyal, retro, vintage, swanky and flashy. Whilst critics will always find something to critique, this collection is unlikely to disappoint die-hard Gucci fans or commentators alike. Shop Gucci
