“It started as an infatuation with wearable objects that keep secrets and tell stories. The little things that bring sparkles to our lives. Every charXchen piece is meant to be an everyday companion, to be worn, and gather experiences (big + small) with you,” that’s how Seattle-based charXchen explain the ethos behind their brand. Jewellery is an intimate gift, whether you are buying for a friend or a loved one or treating yourself, so what wonderfully personal attitude for a designer to have.
Inspired by the geometric and linearity forms in nature, charXchen enables ideas to connect and they create intricate pieces that become a loyal friend to those who wear them. During production, only high-quality materials are used and for the current collection, we see pieces cast in brass, sterling silver, and 14K gold, plated in 20K gold, 18K gold, rose gold, or white gold. Everything is handmade and never rushed.
“As we design this collection, we have been thinking about how the element of light is essential to how these wearable objects are worn and perceived. We want to remind our wearers that light is as much part of the experience of accessorizing as the pieces themselves”. Charlotte Chen – Designer.
Based on the concepts of light, Charlotte has added a family of styles and colours to her newest collection. Whilst retaining the geometric forms from the previous set, the new collection beholds its own sensitive characteristics. Char X Chen was able to bring the pieces to life by using gemstones that interact with light. Each cut stone is unique and has a varied opacity, so no two pieces are the same.
