Ben Brown Fine Arts 13 MAY – 30 JULY 2021 – LONDON
American artist Ena Swansea presents her solo exhibition ‘Green Light’ with Ben Brown Fine Arts. The London location will host the artist’s new works consisting of a series of large-scale paintings that are timeless in style. The title represents a green light, meaning to go, to move, and progress alongside the excitement of being able to push forward with the sudden change of the green light.
The canvases explore subjects such as the urban landscape, with abstraction playing a part within the depiction of the scenario. Working with colour and texture Ena uses layering to create depth. Swansea keeps a collection of past photographs which she revisits to gain inspiration and ideas.
The painting style creates an almost hallucinogenic visual that pushes the boundaries of how we see the world and what state it is seen within. Intricately layered with mixed media to build a cinematic and almost 3D visual. With the works contrasting elements, art enthusiasts can connect to the piece on a more personal level. Whilst the paintings give us some information, a lot is left open to the viewer’s interpretation creating a bond with all involved.
