The distinguished Balbirnie House Hotel in Fife has been awarded ‘Wedding Retreat of the Year’ at the Haute Grandeur Global Hotel Awards ceremony, which took place at the Palazzo Versace in Dubai.

The Scottish hotel was up against many of the world’s finest hotels and this is the third year in a row that the hotel has won an award. Previously they have won Europe’s best Romantic Hotel, Europe’s Best Function Venue Hotel and Europe’s Best Destination Wedding Hotel, whilst 2016 saw the hotel named ‘Europe’s Best Destination Wedding Retreat’. The hotel has also previously been named Scotland’s Wedding Hotel of the year an impressive 12 times.

“To see Balbirnie House go number 1 in the world, and achieve something for Scotland that has never ever been achieved before, is remarkable. The award is dedicated to our brigade past and present,” said owner Nicholas Russell.

In celebration, the Grade A-Listed Balbirnie House arranged for Scotland Saltire blue smoke to pipe out of its chimneys. The historic 4-star hotel was built in 1777 and is set amongst 400 acres of stunning parkland in the heart of Fife.
