The Cinque Terre on the Italian Riviera is a breathtaking stretch of landscape within the Liguria region, in the North-West of Italy. It accommodates five picturesque villages; Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. The area is famous for its ancient villages, breathtaking walks and local cuisine. The nearest major city is Genoa.
During his travels, photographer Jerome Haffner produced this considerable photo-essay of the coastline and villages. The region is steeped with history and the familiar houses and bungalows, built on the rugged coastline add to the historic charm. The area is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site within the Cinque Terre National Park. Cars have no access to these villages, they are connected only by paths, trains and boats.
