The timeless four-star boutique hotel Les Manoirs des Portes de Deauville just opened in Normandy, so we took a closer look. Just two hours away from Paris, the hotel sits near the beautiful seaside town of Deauville, a popular escape for stylish Parisians.
Offering 27 rooms, with one central manor house, nine cottages, an orchard, pond, leisure area with a pool house, an outdoor heated pool, a sauna and a jacuzzi, the buildings are set on a historic 2-hectare park. It’s an ideal choice for those looking to get away from the hustle and bustle and unwind.
The decor is as you might expect for such a property, with a minimalist and classic feel, to a beautiful standard that lends itself to comfort and relaxation. The exposed beams and Norman half-timbered and thatched exterior are authentic and show off its splendid history. Some spaces have their own kitchenette with pretty garden views. Originally a 16th and 17th-century manor and registered historical building, formerly known as Le Manoir de Prétot and belonged to Marie Corneille, the sister of French tragedian Pierre Corneille.
Normandy has been a favourite destination for French and English alike, as well as many Europeans on vacation. For gastronomy, Normandy has an abundance of boutique restaurants and exciting food markets and has the fishing town of Trouville, famous for its seafood. Normandy is also renowned for Norman cheese, like the world-famous Camembert and Calvados alcohol. A real haven for foodies.
Les Manoirs des Portes de Deauville is open all year round and taking bookings now – make sure you indulge in their traditional French pastries, bread and as well as seasonal fruits and local produce, all served daily.
