The Island Poké brand has launched their fourth location in Great Titchfield Street, London, W1. Island Poké intends to pioneer the concept of grab & go lunch, with their signature poké bowls. The company was founded by James Gould-Porter who grew up in California but cites the real inspiration came from his frequent trips to Hawaii where he spent summers on the islands as a child.
To celebrate the launch of the 4th site last month, Island Poké teamed up with neighbour Mac & Wild and were selling bowls featuring large portions of colourful, high flavoured, healthy ingredients for just £1 each to all who popped by!
Island Poké started out as a humble street food businesses which had high family values. This led to the poké concept (traditionally formulated of a dish of cubed, marinated fish) being taken to the next level. Island Poké’s version includes a base of rice or slaw topped with seaweeds, fruit salsas, pickles and garnishes which creates flavoursome, colourful food.
“The Island Poké x Mac & Wild bowl remixes typically Scottish ingredients and puts them into a refreshing poké format. The result is a combination of powerful flavours which include salmon in a seared buckthorn elderflower glaze topped with wild garlic, kimchi and charred fennel covered with a pickled foraged seaweed, crab mayo and puffed barley.”
“We’ve wanted to collaborate with our friends at Mac & Wild for a while now, but were just waiting for the perfect moment. Now that we’re opening a new restaurant just a few buildings down from the Mac & Wild Fitzrovia location, we knew the time had come. We’re extremely happy about how the bowl turned out and are so excited to bring it to fruition as our new site opens.” James Gould-Porter, the founder of Island Poké said back in June.
In November 2016, Island Poké opened its first site on Kingly Street in Soho, followed by a second in Broadgate Circle just ten months later and Canary Wharf at the end of 2017. The new Great Titchfield Street location launched Monday 4th June and there is one more location planned to open in 2018.
