Since 2010, as an independent publisher, I have published in print over 110 magazines, zines & special editions, but many have not heard of Beauty Rebel Magazine, which you could say is a female version of CLIENT. With a focus on natural beauty (at the hands of talented hair & makeup artists) and good photography more than anything else, and in a world dominated by artificial and media-sponsored fake personalities, Beauty Rebel opts for REAL over reality. I felt it was time to put Beauty Rebel in the limelight and share it with readers of CLIENT. Some of you just might like it.
Since its inception in 2012, Beauty Rebel has avoided unnecessary retouching and has promoted a good balance of analogue and digital photography. This issue is no exception. Former cover stars have included legendary fashion icon Daphne Guinness, intelligent & enigmatic Kelly Mittendorf, and rebel actress Mischa Barton. But i’ve never shied away from promoting new talent or less-known talent, throughout all of the magazines i have published and i’m fortunate that even with new talent on covers, they still sell. That’s because i believe there are many people out there with good taste and if we did not support new talent, what would be the point? For issue #5 of Beauty Rebel, i chose two less famous faces for the front and back covers, and these are two of my favourite covers ever. On the front cover is a coy but sexy Nicole Kaspar at Major Paris photographed on film by Cully Wright, styled by Julia Platt-Hepworth and on the back cover Olga Datsenko at M+P Models photographed by Sarah Louise Johnson and styled by Mira Kozlowski. The magazine is printed in limited edition on the finest recycled uncoated matt paper – something for the coffee table for sure and not something you will want to throw away.
